Frequently Asked Questions

How do I rent a motorhome?

You can phone our office (01355 261800) for further information and to check availability. You can download our booking form from this website and email to sales@firstclassmotorhomes.com or post to First Class Rental Ltd, Gordon MacKenzie, 27 Cheviot Crescent, Lindsayfield, East Kilbride, G75 9GG. On booking you will need to pay a non-refundable booking deposit of £250.00 per week or part thereof. The full balance of the rental needs to be paid 28 days before collection date.

Two refundable bonds are required on collection. A £500 security bond is required to cover possible damages to the fixtures and fittings on the motorhome. The second bond is to cover the vehicle insurance damage excess (CDW). This is £1,000 but can be reduced to £500 for £8 per day. In practice it is generally acceptable that having details of a credit or debit card is sufficient for these bonds without actually debiting the monies and refunding at the end of rental.

Who can drive a motorhome?

Anyone between the ages of 25 and 70 who has held the required licence, for at least 2 years, and has current driving experience can drive our motorhomes. Please note that some professions are not allowed to hire a motorhome under the conditions of our insurers, please check at time of booking. A standard category B car driving licence is required for all our motorhomes. Any driving convictions and penalty points need to be declared on the booking form and are subject to the terms of our insurers.

How long can I rent a motor home for?

High season rentals are for a minimum of 1 week. We will tailor special deals for rentals of 4 weeks or more. During mid and low seasons the minimum rental period is 4 and 3 days.

Can I drive the motorhome abroad?

The standard insurance included in your rental allows the motorhome to be driven in the UK only. A ‘Green Card’ to allow driving outside the UK can be arranged in advance through our insurers and is chargeable.

Where do I collect the motorhome from?

The motorhomes are available for collection at our depot at the Lairds Business Centre in Swanston Street, Glasgow G40 4HH  between 14.00 and 17.00. Enter the parking area at ‘Morrisons Gym’, directly opposite Strathclyde Street. Handover takes around 1 hour to demonstrate the vehicle and complete the paperwork. Please note that the security gates at the depot are locked at 18:00. The motorhome must be returned between 09:00 and 11.00 at the end of the hire period unless an alternate time has been agreed at the start of rental. This is to ensure the motorhome is available for the next hire. Failing to return the motorhome on time will incur a charge of £50 for every hour late and may invalidate your insurance. Early returns are non-refundable. Our motorhomes are available for hire all year round.
